Wednesday 8th May  or  Saturday 11th May

Create a fabulous print, just like these in this fun workshop! You will learn how to draw a chicken or bird, how to simplify and exaggerate your drawings to create an impactful image suitable for translating into print.  

By the end of the workshop you will have learnt the basic principles of press printing and produced 2 x A2 prints that you will finish by hand with coloured ink and paint.

ABOUT SABINA

Sabina is a fully-qualified art teacher. The bulk of her teaching experience before having her own children was in secondary school and 6th form college, where she taught Art and Design, Fine Art, Graphics and Textiles. These days, Sabina teaches younger children (age 7 to 12) face to face locally and she also teaches online. In addition to teaching, Sabina is a practising illustrator. You can see examples of her own work on her instagram page here https://www.instagram.com/sabina_townshend/

Lino cut is great fun to do and with inspiration and guidance from Sabina, I can't wait to see what gets created! You'll learn the basic principles of lino cut printing and all about the materials and equipment that is used. By the end of the workshops, you'll have created a set of A6 prints on paper to take home with you.

Penny Sanderson’s friendly, relaxed classes run weekly, choose from Tuesday or Friday mornings from 9.30am to 12.30pm during term time.

A taster class in Botanical Painting, as a one-off, it's a lovely way to spend the morning doing something creative and a great way to try it before signing up for the weekly classes.

This month we'll be painting a special Hassocks landmark, Oldland Mill! 

A step-by-step fun workshop for anyone who would like to have a go at painting on canvas with acrylics. No need to feel nervous! Beginners find these classes a great place to just have a go and are so often thrilled by their first attempt. Fancy trying out your creative skills without the need to buy paints, brushes etc, without having to find a space to get messy in, and without having to clean up afterwards?! Enjoy a complementary glass or two of Prosecco and socialise in this small group (max 10 people).

This Art for Wellbeing Workshop is designed specifically for girls aged 11-15!
A transformative experience that blends creativity, confidence-building, and self-expression. Led by Ellen, who is a former primary teacher and certified holistic life coach, our small-group sessions (limited to 8 participants) provide a safe and nurturing space for your child to explore the joy of art.
Through a delightful combination of watercolours and line drawings, each participant will craft a unique masterpiece, fostering a sense of individuality and boosting self-esteem. This workshop goes beyond artistic expression, encouraging girls to embrace their creativity as a tool for personal growth and increased confidence.
Ensuring a safe and secure environment for your child is vital and Ellen has a Full DBS Check. This is a space for self-discovery and empowerment through the joyful process of creating art.

Spring is almost here. Join local artist Duncan Allan for gentle guidance and encouragement in a relaxed, creative setting. Create textures, mix colours and experiment with techniques. We will also look at styles and works by familiar to lesser-known artists around the world, maybe inspiring us in our own paintings and conversation. After you will be able to take home your new work of art.

Come along, bring a friend or buy as a gift for your Mum for Mother’s Day & have a fun, creative time learning how to make & decorate your own cherry blossom or summer fruit tree tealight holder plus a small floral window hanger.
This is a beginners workshop so no experience necessary and templates are used so you don’t even have to be artistic!!
Bernie will be on hand throughout giving expert advice and after a demonstration, you will have a template to paint the tree with specialist glass paints & a special mix of crushed glass to give a perfect blossom or fruit tree effect. You'll then make a mini floral hanger using paints & glass dots.
Your pieces will then be taken to Bernie's workshop where they will be kiln fired, attached to a tealight holder and returned to De La Casa around two weeks later.
£35 per person, includes all materials and battery tealight.

Saturday 16th March 11am - 1.00pm

Join Sarah for a fun and creative ceramic workshop using plant cuttings, fabrics and letter stamps to make your own personalised pottery. During the workshop you will make 4 decorations or coasters/tiles of your choice and a trinket dish using various plants and fabrics to imprint patterns into the clay. Once the pottery is made, we'll look at some painting, decorating techniques and you will decorate a trinket dish, that Sarah has already made and fired in the kiln.
Sarah will then take your pottery away, dry it, fire it and glaze it, to your specifications and you'll be able to collect it from De La Casa approximately 3 weeks later.
This is a great and fun workshop, even if you don't feel particularly creative, you'll be shown some fantastic techniques for making your pottery.
